As a partner at Water Street Partners, Gerard runs the Joint Venture Advisory Group (JVAG), which includes the Joint Venture Leadership Council, the Joint Venture & Alliance Dealmaker Council, and the Joint Venture Executive Oversight Council. These Councils help JV executives, JV boards, parent company executives, and corporate development teams with their most important JV and alliance related challenges.
Gerard brings 15 years of experience in management consulting and dealmaking to Water Street Partners. He has worked across a range of transaction types from M&A to major outsourcing arrangements, with most of his time spent focused on joint ventures, partnerships, and alliances.
Gerard has helped clients structure and negotiate more than 20 major transactions and numerous smaller ones, including over $50 billion in deal value. He has helped clients launch ventures, develop and update their strategy and scope, define their operating and governance models, and restructure and exit ventures. He has helped parent companies build partnering-specific deal processes and governance practices.
Prior to joining Water Street Partners, Gerard worked at Booz & Company, where he advised clients on a variety of M&A due diligence, market assessment, and strategy engagements. He also worked at Accenture, where he focused on process and organizational design and implementation.
Gerard is a regular contributor to Chief Executive Magazine and Corporate Board Member. He has also been published in The Hill, Mining Weekly, and other publications. He has been a guest speaker at a top MBA program.
Gerard has an MBA from Duke University and a BS in Finance from Virginia Tech, where he was an Academic All-American and All-Conference tennis player.
