BP partnership, Azerbaijan extend Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli PSA

The BP PLC-led production-sharing agreement (PSA) for the giant Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli group of oil fields in the Caspian Sea will be extended through 2049.

As part of the deal, the international partners will pay a bonus of $3.6 billion to Azerbaijan’s state oil fund and will each reduce interest in the PSA so that SOCAR’s equity share will rise to 25% from 11.65%.

Global safety science organisation, UL, has announced a joint venture with Saudi-based GCC Lab aimed at strengthening the Middle East’s renewable energy infrastructure.

UL, whose regional base operates out of offices in Dubai and its new lab facility in Abu Dhabim said the joint venture will be based in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, to cater to customers in parts of the Middle East, including Egypt.

The Steinhoff accounting fraud allegations took a fresh twist on Monday, when the company said in a Sens statement that a Dutch court had been petitioned over its accounts for the period to September 30 2016.

In a statement headlined, "Update on disputes with former joint venture partner", Steinhoff reiterated that its accounts complied with the requirements of international financial reporting standards (IFRS), and expressed confidence that the appeal would be dismissed.
